      Introduction -

   In our day to day classroom conversation the, discussion begin with the topic of "what is literature?" and that conversation lead us to the roots of the beginning of the literature. The root was comes from the time of Socrates, plato and many other historians. By our professor Dr.Dilipsir Barad gave us a task to write a blogg upon the Socrates life and the other things. He gave us a 4 videos of Socrates, from the watching of those videos my understanding of the Socrates and what is the role of Socrates in shaping the literature was below there.


    Preface to The Socrates -

 The Socrates  (c. 470–399 BCE) was the Greek philosopher, historian and much more notable figure in his time, who did not write any texts himself. Instead, his ideas and teachings were preserved and expanded in literature by his students—most notably Plato and Xenophon.Though Socrates himself was not a writer, his influence on literary and philosophical traditions is profound

  

- There are major four characteristics of the Socrates life regarding to the literature.

1.Oral Tradition 

                   " The Socratic Method "

2.Philosophical Dialogues

     - Influenced centuries of Western literature

3.Moral and Ethical Themes

     - "What is justice?" or "What is virtue?"

4.Legacy in Western Thought

    - European literary humanism, encouraging authors to explore reason, morality, and truth in their works

  In short, while Socrates did not expand literature directly through writing, his life, ideas, and method profoundly carving the content, form, and purpose of Western literature.
